The Hammer Story by Marcus Hearn and Alan Barnes

Has anybody else read this book? It's really beautiful with a lot of color photos from their films. It focuses mainly on their gothic horror output, but it has different sections on the other types of films that they made.

I have not but I have read "House of Horror: An Illustrated History of Hammer Films" by Jack Hunter that was put out by the VASTLY underrated Creation Books. No color photos and quite a bit of typos but a good read nonetheless.

While FAB Press gets a lot of praise (and, for the most part, deserve every bit of it), Creation Books has put out a lot of good stuff. "Killing for Culture", "Inside Teradome" and "Deathtripping" are all great books (especially "Killing" which should be read by everyone into the rougher side of genre film).

Their "Fragments of Fear: An Illsutrated History of British Horror Films" by Andy Boot would appeal to you. They cover the three periods of Hammer Studios as well as Amicus and Tigon (which should be better known DAMN IT!) as well as Tod Slaughter, Pete Walker and the like.

It's out of print, though, so it might be a little pricey, but you'll dig it.

Thanks for the info on those books. I'll be on the lookout for the last one on particular.
