| These two films are probably among my favorite "horror" movies ever made... though I tend to find them far more clever, and HILARIOUS than terrifying. "To know death, Otto, you have to fuck life... in the gall bladder!" Featuring basically the same cast in both films, they were shot back to back in Italy. Starring Joe Dallesandro, Udo Kier, et al. Dallesandro's New York accent is hysterical, considering the eastern European dialects that the rest of the cast makes use of (though, in some cases, laughably) The interesting political "sub-text" of Blood for Dracula (which is anything but subtle, and mostly just discombobulated and silly) can be seen here: I know some others have seen these, and I know that at least Dolemike enjoys them... GO! | |

I like Dracula more... but Frankenstein is probably the better movie. They're both great though, IMO.

| Cool. I got both thru trades and just haven't gotten around to watching. If I dig 'em I'll pick up the criterions. | |

| I can't live without these flicks.
Like I said earlier on another forum, no flicks can walk the line between art/ exploitation, disgusting/ beautiful, tragic/ hilarious, and subtle/ gratuitous like BFD & FFF.
They've been on The Movie Channel this month, and even though I have the discs and have watched them a million times, I still have to watch if I see they're on.
Essential Udo! | |

| 45 minutes into BFD. Beautiful and very cool characters. Slow pacing, but it looks like things are coming together. | |

| BFD was watched last night. Slow up until the last 1/4 of the film where everything went into high gear. I was laughing hysterically at the poor-nonattempt at accents. Udo rocked. Don't know if I'm going to hunt down the DVD but hell it was a beautiful and fun movie. | |

That guy was a straight up pimp! "You should lose that... uh... virginity of yours before he gets to you." Best cinematic pick-up line ever, or what?

I dig the hard info, but Yacowar is such a pretentious kiss-ass. He & James Lipton must be having a contest to see who can have the brownest nose. Only listenened to them once apiece and it was quite awhile ago. I've been wanting to listen to them again. If I remember right, they don't talk about Margheriti much, if at all. I'd like to hear more about that controversy.

| You know, I'm still baffled by the whole Margheriti issue. Surely there were enough people around to tell what was really going on? | |

It depends on who's saying what though. There are plenty of people (other than the directors themselves) that were either cast or crew on both sides who swear that one or the other directed and neither director wants to give the other any (or barely any) credit at all. One things for sure, FFF looks & feels (minus the dialog) totally like a Margheriti film. And if you see both FFF & BFD back to back there's a big stylistic difference that I don't think was just Morrissey trying for a different look/feel. Who knows for sure???

I'm getting FFF next on netflix though. I wish the criterions weren't OOP. Don't worry about the Criterions! The current R1 DVD release of these is almost identical to the Criterions, at least in terms of features. The picture is also great in terms of quality.

Oh good! Thanks. I was disappointed because when I found out they were on Criterion, they were already OOP.

| I just watched both of these recently. Not sure which one I liked more.. I might be leaning towards BFD, but I dunno, I thought they were both great. Udo Kier is all kinds of awesome. I really loved him in them. Well, who didn't, right? Now I kind of wish they did more of these! I wasn't expecting to see Roman Polanski show up in BFD. | |

| I love Paul Morissey's movies, these are great films. Udo Kier freaks the shit out of me, there is something soo wrong about him, and give me Joe Dallesandro on toast anyday. | |
