I usually don't like to make threads for movies I've never seen (DJANGO, PREPARE A COFFIN being the only exception I can think of offhand), but I have this and one of the sequels (THE STRANGER RETURNS) set to record on the DVR from TCM.

A STRANGER IN TOWN aka For a Dollar in the Teeth aka A Dollar Between the Teeth
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060325/

"Killer take alll! If You've got the guts...The gun...And the gold you can make women beg...Men die...And a town crawl!"

"Tempt him... whip him... brand him... break him... but make damn sure the stranger doesn't crawl out of town alive!"

From the IMDB User Comments these sound awesome as hell!

Looking forward to checking these out.

There's also apparently a 3rd sequel. Possibly called GET MEAN.

Watched A STRANGER IN TOWN last night and enjoyed it immensely.

Very low-budge & definitely a no-frills affair. Very lean on story- Mexican bandits kill Mexican soldiers & steal their uniforms and the Stranger enlists them to help him steal gold from American soldiers. Naturally, the Mexican bandits ripoff the Stranger and he has to steal it back.

The cheapness and sparseness of everything worked well in it's behalf IMO, by cutting out all the extraneous bullshit. For some reason the town is completely empty except for the bandits and some other gal & her baby. There's a few townies at the beginning, but they manage to disappear somewhere for most of the flick.

If you're looking for some deep political shit or existenialism, you ain't gonna find any of that here.

It's funny, but The Stranger himself looked like a short Barry Manilow by way of Terrence Hill. He's not like the usual iconic hero type. What I found kind of funny was that he (the character) seemed like he was trying to be cool like a Man W/ No Name or a Django, but he kept getting his ass kicked and losing his gun. Laughing He's a sneaky, tough & mean little bastard though! Think maybe Jack Burton from BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, and how he's a fuck-up and an ass kicker at the same time, but channelling Clint instead of The Duke without the intentional humor, but still managing to be funny if you think about it.

The only cast member that I recognised was Frank Wolf who played the sheriff in THE GREAT SILENCE among a zillion other SWs, as the Mexican baddie type role usually reserved for Volonte.

Anyway. it's pretty good. Check it out.

Oh, and the music's cool too. Smile

Just watcheed THE STRANGER RETURNS last night.

Plots a little more complicated than the 1st- a few more twists and turns as The Stranger gets mixed up with bandits stealing gold by making stagecoaches out of it Laughing

Might be better than the first.

Jill Banner- 'Spider Baby' herself was in it!
I always thought he was hot, but damn!
She's fucking gorgeous in color! I love you

I'm going to have to buy these sometime.

I totally dig the Stranger character and his sneaky methods. Cool

God dammit. I've been looking for this everywhere. Still can't find a place to buy it.

Looks like I'll have to turn to torrents again like I do with most Spaghetti's.

I'm pretty sure the Wild East label released them on a dbl. feature DVD.
Maybe it's OOP now?

I really enjoyed them.

SW's reduced to their purest, simplest elements. Low, low budge, no frills, but fun as hell.

I could see you either being very impressed with their simplicity or not at all.

Ah I see. Bit pricey for me at the moment including importing it so I'll have to leave it. A tv station over here has the movie on their pro gramme list so hopefully they'll play it again soon.
